If you are well, that’s great because upon reading this one we 're going to share with you some of the unique cultural traditions of this country that is known as the Land of Smiles. So, starting with a brief introduction; Thailand is located in the South and is one of the Asian countries in the world. Did you know that Thailand wasn't its former name? It was previously known as Siam and later on, changed in the year of 1939 into Thailand. Furthermore, Thailand consists of 77 provinces and Bangkok is its capital. Moreover, let’s talk about their religion. The majority of the Thai people follow Theravada Buddhism and half of them are following Muslim. So, before I say it all in this paragraph let’s now go further into getting to know the culture of Thailand.
In Thai culture it is quite known that they have a strong sense of belief in ghosts, spirits and lastly predictions. Moreover, Thai people strongly believe in superstitions. They often consult a fortune teller for instances like in relationships or how successful a person will be in the future. However, as I’ve heard stories about fortune telling as pero some of them are patiently waiting for it to come true, and as for others the fortune has already come into their lives. But then, there is no harm in trying. It’s on you whether you’ll believe and wait for the luck to go in your way.
However, Thailand superstitions is a diverse and traditional belief that is rooted upon Thai people. Most of their beliefs came upon every province in Thailand as it’s passed through generations up until now. So, as these beliefs spread throughout the year it became popularly known around Thai people as they started to engage themselves about superstitions. Did it ever come across your mind what makes them strongly believe in superstitions? Aside from fortune telling here are some of their belief traditions:
Amulets are a good luck charm for business, you can see them in the streets of Bangkok as amulets are a big deal in the Thai industry of Thailand. Tattoos did you know that in Thailand their tattoos were done by their Buddhist monk; traditionally they use wood or metal to do it to people. Thus, tattoo means giving strength and power to someone who has it. Let’s talk about Ghosts, as I said in Thailand people has a strong sense of belief in ghost as it was marked in their culture. Thai people are very well engaged when it comes to scary stories contrary to what they feel, as they believed but they’re also afraid.
Furthermore, Thailand is also known for its delicacies as Thai people love to eat spicy foods. Hence, spices are always present in every Thai dish. Thus, the origin of how it all started is because of these countries influences: the Portuguese, Indian and China thus, this explains why Thai people are fond of eating spicy foods as those countries share their spices to Thailand and let them learned until they adapt and learn about those spices, and as per what we’ve seen today thai people are greatly influenced as they cook various spicy delicacies.
Moreover, Thai people consider eating spicier food because it helps them to feel better as it serves as a comfort food to them. However, just like in every other Asian country rice is very important as it is also always present in every Thai meal. Here are some of the best Thai dishes that are spicy: Pad Prik, Khao Pad Nam Prik Narok, and Tom Yum Kung. So, If you are fond of spicy foods I guess Thailand is the best destination for you!
